ENJOY CHICAGOLAND SUMMER EVENTS

Chicagoland is buzzing with summer events, especially as we approach the end of the season. Here is a rundown of some of the major happenings you can enjoy:

Festivals and Fairs

  • Northalsted Market Days: This is a major two-day street festival in Chicago’s Northalsted neighborhood (Halsted Street from Belmont to Addison). It’s a celebration of the LGBTQ+ community with live music, performances, food, and hundreds of vendors.
  • Bud Billiken Parade: A Chicago tradition, the Bud Billiken Parade is the largest African American parade in the United States. It features marching bands, floats, and community groups, celebrating culture and education.
  • Taste of Chicago: While the main event in Grant Park happens in September, there are neighborhood Taste of Chicago events throughout the summer. Check for a local event in Albany Park.
  • LatiNxt: Navy Pier is hosting a free festival dedicated to Latin music, art, and culture.
  • Chicago House Music Festival and Conference: Celebrating the birthplace of House music, this free, four-day event includes a day-long festival in Millennium Park with multiple stages, as well as a wind-down session on the Riverwalk.
  • Veggie Fest: If you’re looking for an event in the suburbs, Veggie Fest in Lisle is a popular celebration of vegetarian food and lifestyle.

Music and Entertainment

  • Grant Park Music Festival: This ten-week classical music series in Millennium Park is a summer staple. The festival features the Grant Park Orchestra and Chorus.
